Menopause is a condition where the fertility and menstruation end. It is a normal process happens in women, it is not a disease, but it can cause drastic changes and severe side effects. Some people may face symptoms for years before or after their final period.

Menopause is defined as the absence of menstrual periods for 12 months. In this time in a woman’s life the function of the ovaries ceases. The process of menopause does not occur overnight, but rather is a gradual process. This process is called as perimenopausal transition period and it is a different experience for each woman.

Menopause generally begins between the ages of 45 and 55, but can develop before or after this age range. Menopause can cause some uncomfortable symptoms, like hot flashes, night sweats, hormones, HRT and weight gain.

Menopause affects each woman differently and 50% of women never suffer symptoms such as hot flashes. Healthy living, natural and complementary therapies, hormone replacement therapy (HRT), and some prescription medications may assist with menopause.
