Nethallu Chepala Fry is a popular and delicious dish from the coastal regions of Andhra Pradesh, India. Here’s a recipe to make it at home:

Ingredients:

  • 500 grams of Nethallu (Anchovies) fish, cleaned and washed
  • 2 tablespoons of red chili powder
  • 1 tablespoon of coriander powder
  • 1 tablespoon of cumin powder
  • 1 tablespoon of ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 teaspoon of turmeric powder
  • 1 tablespoon of lemon juice
  • Salt, to taste
  • Oil, for deep frying

Instructions:

  1. In a mixing bowl, add red chili powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, ginger-garlic paste, turmeric powder, lemon juice, and salt. Mix all the ingredients well.
  2. Apply the spice mixture to the fish and marinate it for at least 30 minutes.
  3. Heat oil in a deep frying pan.
  4. Once the oil is hot, add the marinated fish pieces to the oil.
  5. Fry the fish for 5-7 minutes until it turns golden brown.
  6. Use a slotted spoon to remove the fried fish from the oil and transfer it onto a paper towel to remove excess oil.
  7. Serve the Nethallu Chepala Fry hot with steamed rice, lemon wedges, and onion slices.
